Dr. Kalil was born and raised in Williston, ND. He graduated from Williston High School in 1996 as the valedictorian of his class, He attended North Dakota State University and was a 3-year letter-winner on the Bison golf team. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in Zoology. He then went on to the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, from which he received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2004.

Personal
Dr. Kalil and his wife, Brianne, live in Maple Grove with their two young children. When he is not working Dr. Kalil enjoys golfing and spending time at home with his family.
