Dr. Hammond was raised in Vermillion, SD and attended South Dakota State University for his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Business. He then attended the Illinois College of Optometry where he graduated with honors, was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa and Tomb and Key honor societies, and received the Clinical Excellence Award. Following graduation, Dr. Hammond was selected for a post-doctoral residency at the #1 ranked eye hospital in the country, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami, where he received medical and peri-operative training in several ocular disease sub-specialties.
Dr. Hammond specializes in the medical management of glaucoma, cornea, and dry eye disease at our Coon Rapids location. Dr. Hammond has co-authored two textbooks, numerous articles, and participated in clinical trials researching glaucoma, and also serves as the Chair of the Education Committee for the Minnesota Optometric Association. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the American Optometric Association, the Minnesota Optometric Association, the Optometric Glaucoma Society, and the World Glaucoma Association.

Dr. Hammond enjoys golfing and traveling with his wife Amanda. They live in Minnetonka with their daughter and Bernese Mountain Dog.
