A clearer, wider, and more comfortable way to examine your eyes.

At TCEC, we’re committed to providing advanced eye care that keeps your vision healthy for years to come. One of the most powerful tools we use is Optos ultra-widefield retinal imaging.

If you’ve ever dreaded the traditional dilated eye exam or wished the process could be quicker, Optos technology may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

What Is Optos Retinal Imaging?

Optos is a state-of-the-art imaging system that captures 80% of the retina in a single, quick image. Traditional retinal photography typically shows only about 10-15%. This allows your provider to not only detect early signs of disease but also to track changes in the retina over time, making it an invaluable tool for ongoing eye health management.

This ultra-widefield image allows us to detect early signs and monitor:

  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Macular degeneration
  • Retinal tears or detachments
  • Hypertension-related eye changes
  • Glaucoma
  • Retinal holes, freckle changes, and peripheral abnormalities

Early detection is essential for protecting long-term vision and Optos makes it easier than ever.

Why Patients Love Optos (and Your Eyes Will Too)

✔ No Dilation Needed

While dilation is still recommended in some cases, many patients can skip the drops because Optos captures such a large and detailed view. That means no light sensitivity and no blurry near vision for hours afterward.

✔ Quick and Comfortable

An Optos scan takes less than a second. You simply look into the device and a flash of light captures your retina. No puff of air, no pressure, and no discomfort.

✔ A Clear Image You Can See

One of the most empowering benefits is the ability to view your own retina on-screen. Your provider walks you through the images so you can see exactly what we see, a helpful tool for understanding your overall eye health.

✔ Better Detection of Eye Disease

Many sight-threatening eye conditions begin in the outer edges of the retina. Because Optos offers a panoramic view, it can reveal small changes that might otherwise go unnoticed during a traditional exam.
