Cataract
When it comes to cataract surgery, we have some of the most experienced surgeons in the Upper Midwest. Twin Cities Eye Consultants uses the best technology for safe, accurate, results.
Cataract Technology
Twin Cities Eye Consultants is proud to offer a full spectrum of surgical and Intraocular Lens (IOL) technologies.

Cataract surgery always involves the removal and replacement of the cataract with an IOL.
When it comes to IOLs, there's no such thing as a "one size fits all". At Twin Cities Eye Consultants, the surgeon and patient will discuss together which option best fits the patient's lifestyle and vision goals.
Monofocal (Single-Focus) IOLs
These IOLs dedicate 100% of the eye’s focusing ability to a single focus point providing the sharpest possible vision at that point. While most patients choose the focusing to the set for “distance” viewing (driving, television, golfing), the focusing point can also be set for “intermediate” viewing (computer reading), or “near” viewing (book reading). Monofocal IOLS are available in both “Toric” and “Non-Toric” versions depending on the patient’s degree of astigmatism and desired correction.
Multifocal & Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) IOLs
These IOLs provide patients with a broader range of focusing ability Concentric circles built into the lens split light and provide focus points for both distance and near-range vision. Multifocal and EDOF IOLs are vailable in both “Toric” and “Non-Toric” versions depending on the patient’s degree of astigmatism and desired correction.
Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)
This IOL provides customized vision through “fine-tune” focusing adjustments to the lens once the eye heals after cataract surgery. The LAL is made from photo-reactive material that refines the patient’s vision when exposed to UC light from a special Light Delivery Device (LDD) and is tailored to the patient’s visual needs. The LAL provides a strong advantage for patients with a previous history of eye surgeries including LASIK or PRK, who want to maintain excellent quality vision following cataract surgery.
Femtosecond Laser
This computer-controlled, laser-assisted surgical option captures high-resolution images of the eye to form a more exacting surgical plan and treatment designed to improve precision for your desired corrected outcome.
